Be part of the community! Integrated services addressed to the local Roma community from Curcani and Românești (code PN1012) is implemented by the Association Center for Education and Human Rights in partnership with Curcani City Hall (Călărași County). The project covers the period from December 2020 to November 2023.
The general objective
of the project is to increase the inclusion and empowerment of 1,000 Roma people over a period of 36 months, through
- education, health and housing services appropriate to the needs
- proactive social assistance
- entrusting and empowering young people and women
- community awareness on non-discrimination of the Roma population in two Roma communities in Călărași (Curcani commune) and Dâmbovița (Românești village) counties.
Specific objectives
aims to increase access to education, health and housing for 1000 Roma people, to improve skills and competences for involvement in the life of the local community, and to carry out a campaign against any form of discrimination.
The target group is compiled of
- 120 preschoolers from disadvantaged families
- 80 primary school pupils
- 200 parents of preschoolers and beneficiary pupils
- 500 people (adults and children) beneficiaries of health services
- 500 Roma people from Curcani locality benefiting from the service for improving housing services
Specific activities
- Non-formal educational activities for beneficiary preschoolers
- Remedial educational activities for primary school pupils
- Activities to improve parenting skills
- Anti-discrimination campaign ran through community events
- Health services supported by medical caravans
- Services to improve living conditions by connecting 100 households in Curcani to the public water service
- Workshops for young people from the two communities to get involved in local initiatives
Results obtained
after the implementation of the project
- 200 pupils and preschoolers supported to participate daily in kindergarten and school activities
- 200 parents who have improved their skills to spend quality leisure time with their children
- 500 people (adults and children) receive health services
- 50 young people trained to get involved in community life
- 100 households connected to the public water service
- 1000 people involved in the anti-discrimination campaign
Budget of the project
– 4,163,789.30 Lei (870,175 Euros) of which 3,747,410.37 Lei representing the amount of non-refundable grant and 416,378.93 Lei private co-funding
